Employee Relations Manager

ERFan.pngIt is a challenge for the HR Professional to take positive steps to maintain high levels of job satisfaction and productivity. There are procedures that employees and employers should follow in case of disputes, grievances, disciplinary action and appeals. Vision Employment Relations Manager records data on all of these events, allowing standard procedures to be defined. This data may be analysed and transformed into meaningful statistics and graphical formats.

Union Representation

Employee union membership is maintained within the system, specifying type of membership.  Union subscription fees can be added, as well as an indication of which employees are shop stewards.

Disciplinary Action

The employee may be disciplined for any of a number of reasons e.g. excessive absenteeism, fighting, drinking at work, verbal abuse, disregard for the safety of others. The proper disciplinary action will not only improve employee behaviour but will also minimise future disciplinary problems through positive supervisor / subordinate relationships.  Vision stores full details of the action including the date, reason for and type of disciplinary action, a follow-up date, and comments and provides the facility to record the correct procedure as a reference.

Appeals

An employee may appeal against the outcome of any action taken. Details of this appeal may be recorded and the various steps involved in the action linked to provide a complete history. Follow-up dates can provide reminders for future steps to be taken.

Grievances

A grievance is a formal complaint by an employee concerning possible violation of the labour contract. The employee may feel that the discipline was unjust and may file a grievance. Procedural steps may be stored and used as reference and details of the grievance, date, follow-up date, type and reason may be recorded. A link may be established to a disciplinary action if appropriate.

Industrial Action

The right to strike and lock out is protected by the Labour Relations Act. Vision provides for the recording of the strike details together with the parties involved. The type of strike such as a grievance strike, wildcat strike, sympathy strike as well as costs and man days affected may be recorded and used for important analyses.

Statistics

Analysis of this information may be produced in any format required. Vision provides a flexible query facility allowing important trends and statistics to be plotted.
