The
primary function of training is to promote the acquisition of
skills. However, the purpose of training may be:
- to improve performance
- to update employees' skills
- to avoid managerial obsolescence
- to solve organisational problems
- to orient new employees
- to satisfy personal growth
- to prepare for promotion and managerial succession
Vision Training Manager provides the necessary tools to monitor,
control and evaluate the effectiveness of the training. Vision is
able to assist the training manager to:
- identify, plan and manage the training of staff
- totally automate the traditionally time-consuming tasks of
administering a training department
- easily measure return on investment on employee
development
- administer and manage learnerships
- extract all reporting required to comply with the Skills
Development Act
- address the requirements / guidelines of the NQF
Phase I: Needs Assessment
The system maintains a list of training that is required for
each job within the company, and this can be used as the basis for
creating a personal training plan for each employee. Training
completed can be matched against training required to highlight
training still outstanding.
Phase II: Conducting Training
Course Creation - The system maintains a
complete database of courses containing a multitude of basic data
on each course.
Course Scheduling - courses can be
scheduled to take place on specified dates. This process
automates other relevant system updates, ensuring facilities and
resources are also managed.
Course Bookings - Learners may be booked on
scheduled courses as well as any ad-hoc courses. Vision
automatically performs a number of checks
- that there is still place available
- that the learner hasn't already attended this course
- that the learner has complied with all the pre-requisites for
this course
Bookings for courses that are full are transferred to a
waitlist. When cancellations are received, learners can be
transferred off the waitlist.
Course Completions - On completion of a course
by a learner Vision will automatically update the learner's
training record from the test and assessment results, and generate
course certificates.
Learners - Extensive learner information can be
created and maintained. This applies to both employees, and
to learners from other organisations. Full information about
these organisations may also be maintained, to extract billing for
internally as well as externally trained learners.
Phase III: Evaluation
The purpose of evaluating in the training process is to determine
whether trainees actually learned new skills and attitudes. Course,
trainer and trainee evaluations may be conducted immediately
post-training. Thereafter, effectiveness of the training may be
determined by assessing the worker's on-the-job performance.
Monitor Training Statistics
Organisations are required to report on planned as well as
attended training. Vision makes it easy to extract all the
required information in a variety of formats.
